On July 26, 2009, the River City Bass Club held its 13th Annual Juniors Tournament on Ryerson Lake. There were 17 children that participated in the event; some of them were patients from the DeVos Children's hospital, some were from broken homes, some were handicapped and others were under-privileged. The tournament was held from 6:30 am until noon with a weigh-in at the launch and a picnic following. Each one of the children received a new fishing rod and reel along with a new tackle box. Roger Lange, coordinator of the event, appreciates the help of those people on the lake that contributed to this event; some provided boats to take the children fishing while others helped with the set-up and the cooking. Both Roger and the children had a great time and would like to thank everyone responsible for making this such a great day.
